Black and white

A volte un'immagine in bianco e nero, può "comunicare" molte più sensazioni, di una a colori.

Non si perde, lo sguardo, a decifrare ogni tonalità. Non sono presenti contrasti complementari. Luci e ombre vengono definite nettamente. Ogni sfumatura crea profondità, tridimensionalità.

È la piattezza che spaventa la mente, una superficie planare che non potrà mai restituire la visione di un mondo reale. Vero. Vivo. Conosciuto. Ed il colore, spesso, rimane ancorato nettamente al foglio.

Il chiaro-scuro, d'altra parte, permette al nostro occhio di "vedere oltre". Cosa si cela al di lá di quelle forme che la matita definisce morbosamente? Perchè sembra voler scavare sulla carta, linee, per condurle al riguardante? A noi?
Lo spazio del quadro si fonde con quello naturale. Ribaltando la visione totale.

Collimando verso il quadro, siamo noi, ora, l'opera d'arte!

Sometimes a black and white image can "communicate" many more sensations, one in color. You do not lose your eyes, to decipher every shade. There are no complementary contrasts. Lights and shadows are clearly defined. Each shade creates depth, three-dimensionality. It is the flatness that scares the mind, a planar surface that will never return the vision of a real world. True. I live. Known. And the color, often, remains firmly anchored to the sheet. The light-dark, on the other hand, allows our eye to "see beyond". What lies beyond those shapes that the pencil defines morbidly? Why does he seem to want to dig into paper, lines, to lead them to the relative? To us? The space of the painting merges with the natural one. Overturning total vision. Collimating towards the painting, we are now the work of art!
